Back to Burma! On my all-day tour of Bagan’s famous ruins, I photographed many locals, this girl was one of the most photogenic and willing to pose for my camera, showcasing the traditional thanaka – a paste made from tree bark applied to the face as a cosmetic and to protect skin against sunburn. Bagan is a wonderful world heritage site, and one of the top attractions of an archaeological tour of Burma. (photo taken in August 2009)
