I’d like to take a walk there right now!
Where I live “…there had existed here Indians of an older and more primitive culture than the Mohegans encountered by the first settlers of our Bedford Township in 1680. Tools and pottery of these earlier Indians have been found in nearby rock shelters buried well below the possessions left by Mohegans.” There are many stone wall dividers here left by the first settlers.
Walking along the rural lands of Andes, NY I saw this view across a yard. Apparently the area was settled by farmers who put up many low stone fences, but it was a hard life⦠There’a s lot of history there! Now it seems to be mostly second homes. This one was gorgeous and the acreage a vision to behold.
